Trip to Night safari on 28August2009

Before the trip, I went to tuition and my student gave me advanced Teacher day present. She gave me a toy flower encraved with 'Happy teacher day' wordings and a handmade card. That was very nice of her. Now I need to headache about what to buy for her birthday and Children day which is both coming at October. And somemore there are so many October babies. Argh.

After tuition, I quickly rushed over to WN workplace to meet her for dinner and then we rushed over to Woodland MRT station to take Taxi to Night safari. Unfortunately the train stopped at Yishun and I don't know what was the reason even though CT mention it before long ago. And we alight from Yishun instead of Woodland and took Taxi.

We reached quite early and so we explored around and we went to the toilet. In front of the toilet, there was a huge tank with huge catfishs. I had never seen such huge catfishs which measured around 1 metre long. The tolet was very nice and clean but I find the roaring sound once in a few seconds very irritating. :S

After that finally the rest came to meet us and so we went to buy tickets. The brochures of the map of Night safari was so cool because the paper was made from waterproof paper material. Cool. There were a lot of foreigners and JX went crazy over the Japanese. Japanese ladies were indeed beautiful. :D

First we went for the tram ride. I love the tram ride so much especially when it was moving fast because the cool wind was blew onto our skin and making me so cooling and comfortable and end up make me feel like sleeping. But the interesting animals kept me awake and curious. There was a part where the tram need travel partially into the water and I thought my shoe would get wet. Luckily didn't and I heard that the water was from the crocodile one. We also got a hand distance with the Malayan tapir which was like strolling beside the tram. If I were to stretch out my hand, I would be able to touch it. The elephant we passed by was so funny, one of them was like doing the movement of stand, sit, stand, sit... It was trying to scatch it back and at first I thought it was trying to be funny or act cute. HAHA! And so the tram passed by more and more animals and the tram ride ended.

Then we got off and start our foot journey. The animal that got me interested was the Indian Gharial, a spieces from crocodile family. It does look a bit like crocodile except for its long and thin mouth and they are completely harmless to human. Due to the nature of their long and thin mouth, they couldn't eat humans or big size animals. So if you happened to see them, they would only be danger if their big and clumsy tail happened to hit you. ;p
INDIAN GHAIRAL Pictures, Images and Photos

JX, WQ and me were trying to capture a nice picture of it and the place was quite dark or we tried to use flash to take its photo. And there came two youngsters, a guy and a tomboy maybe bad-mouthed behind us that we took it with flash when we wouldn't supposed to. We didn't know they were bad-mouthing about us until SY told me. I got quite angry because why can't they just tap onto our shoulder and tell us we are not suppose to take photo with flash. They said it behind our back and expect us to know what you are thinking and feel sorry for our actions. =.=

And then we continue further in. The leopard was very near us, which is just behind the glass window only. Its back was lying against the glass window. It was near until I suddenly got very interested in its nice leopard skin. The patterns and texture seems very nice to see and touch. We saw them playing also. There were two windows and both had one leopard. At first we went to the first window to see the first leopard for sometime and then went over to the next window to see the next one. A lot of people followed us of course. Then I think the first leopard somehow got upset and jealous and came over to the second window leopard and wrestling with it. The second leopard got shocked and lying down on the grass with its stomach facing the sky that kind of position. Somemore they wrestling so near to the window that we got so shocked and backed away and exclaiming WOAH WOAH WOAH~ even though there was a barrier to protect us. HAHAHHAHA! It was really very dramatic at that time. LOL!

We also went to the enclosed space to see giant bat and giant flying squirrel. The bats were indeed quite big and shocked us when the bat opened its big wing. We are so afraid that it would fly pass us and hit onto our head. HAHAH! Before entering and leaving the enclosed space, we need to pass through 2 to 3 door barriers. One door must close before you are able to open the next door. It remind me of biosafety laboratories.

Before ending the journey, we need to cross a bridge of suspense. The bridge was quite shaky and if the bridge was in random jungle, I think it would be quite scary for me. I wonder why is the bridge called bridge of suspense? The meaning of suspense is uncertainty, so is it bridge of uncertainty? Somehow it sound a bit scary. :S

Overall the trip was very fun and if I had the chance I would go again but the next time I want to go Zoo to see Crocodile. Unfortunately WH was sick and couldn't join us. :)
